Privacy policy
This policy describes how the VoiceShift Android app (package com.voiceshift.voicechanger.studio) and this website handle data. App operator: Not provided — complete before publication.
1. Audio recordings and files
VoiceShift uses the microphone only for a recording you start. Recordings, imported files and the results of standard voice effects are processed on your device. The current version does not upload these audio files to a developer-operated server.
When you import audio, the app creates its own copy. When you import a video’s audio, it extracts the soundtrack without changing the video or copying the entire video into Studio. Saved results stay in the app’s library and, on Android 10 and later, may also be placed in Music/VoiceShift. Videos with a cover are saved in Movies/VoiceShift. Sharing passes a file to the app you select through Android’s share menu; the recipient’s own rules then apply.
The app excludes its audio files, project materials and text drafts from its automatic Android cloud backup and device-transfer rules. Android and other apps may separately synchronize files in shared Music and Movies folders.
The optional “On device” audio list requests permission to read audio so it can show file names, artists and durations. The list stays on your device. Picking an individual file through the system picker does not require access to your entire media library. Trimming creates a separate excerpt and leaves the original unchanged.
A recording can continue when the app is in the background or the screen is off, until you stop it, remove the app’s task or reach the 10-minute limit. The microphone starts only after your action. When notifications are allowed, the recording notification provides Pause, Resume and Stop. Denying notifications does not block recording; controls remain available in the app. Photos, videos and background music selected for a cover or mix are used locally. The app keeps its own copies of materials needed to continue an editable project; the originals are unchanged.
2. Text and speech voices
Text you enter may be kept locally as a draft so you can return to it. Use “Clear text” to remove it. VoiceShift uses the Android text-to-speech engine you choose.
On-device voices process text locally. Online voices may send text to the speech engine provider, whose own terms apply. The app displays a notice when an online voice is selected. Choose an on-device voice to avoid network-based synthesis.
3. Advertising and external services
The app uses Google AdMob for advertising and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage advertising consent. Advertising services may process your IP address, including for approximate location, advertising and other identifiers, ad interactions, diagnostics and performance information. Available consent options depend on your region and the advertising account configuration.
When UMP makes a change-of-choice option available, you can find it under Settings → Privacy → Advertising consent settings. Android also provides advertising identifier settings. See Google’s privacy policy and Google’s information about advertising data.
4. Analytics, crash diagnostics and remote settings
Firebase Remote Config retrieves feature and advertising settings from Google. Google may process an installation identifier, app version, and device and connection information for this service. This does not upload your audio recordings.
Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics are enabled by default in builds configured with Firebase. Each service can be disabled separately under Settings → Privacy. Your saved choice applies after restarts and updates. Analytics helps us understand which features are used and where difficulties occur. Crash reports help us find and fix errors.
Analytics sends predefined action events, such as recording, import, playback, export and opening the share menu, along with data handled by the SDK itself, such as technical information and an app-instance identifier. We do not add audio, speech text, file names or file paths to these events. Analytics advertising identifier collection is disabled; advertising consent through UMP is managed separately.
Crashlytics sends technical Java/Kotlin and native crash reports, including stack traces and information about the app version, device and installation. Media tracks are not attached. Turning off Analytics resets its local data; turning off Crashlytics deletes unsent reports. These controls do not automatically erase data already received by Google. Direct deletion enquiries to the app operator and consult Google’s rules.
See Firebase privacy information. Before publication, the operator must check the actual retention, region and Analytics settings, complete Google Play’s Data safety information and fill in the contact details below.
5. Permissions
| Permission or action | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Record your voice after you start recording. Permission can be revoked in Android settings. |
| File selection | Read audio, videos or images that you select through the system picker. The app does not request access to all files. |
| Notifications and background recording | Control a recording you started while the app is in the background. An active recording uses a microphone foreground service and temporarily keeps the device awake; capture and the wake lock stop while paused. |
| Change system settings | Set a selected result as a ringtone, notification or alarm sound after a separate permission. |
| Network access | Advertising, consent forms, Firebase services and other functions requiring a connection. Online speech synthesis is handled by your selected speech engine. |
6. Storage and deletion
Original recordings and saved results remain until you remove them in Studio or clear app data. Processing and sharing temporary files older than 24 hours are cleaned up on a later app launch. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes internal files and settings; separately exported files in shared Music and Movies folders and copies received by other apps can remain. Remove them through a file manager or the relevant app.
Use “Clear text” to remove the text draft. The privacy section also lets you reset local usage counters. Requests concerning third-party service data can be sent to those services under their own policies.
7. Choice, rights and security
You can decline recording, revoke Android permissions, choose local voices, change available advertising consent settings and delete local files. Depending on applicable law, you may have further rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing and to contact a supervisory authority. Use the contact below for enquiries.
The app uses Android private storage for internal files and temporary access to an individual file when sharing. No storage or transmission method guarantees absolute security. Do not share recordings or text you do not want disclosed to your selected recipient or online voice provider.
8. Children
Before publication, the operator must define the target age audience and align it with Google Play and advertising settings. This test version does not offer dedicated children’s profiles. Contact the operator if you believe a child’s data has been handled inappropriately.
9. This website
These static pages do not set their own cookies, load advertising pixels or include submission forms. On the first visit, the language follows your browser settings. A manual Russian or English selection is saved in browser localStorage under voiceshift.language and is not sent to the developer. Clear website data in your browser to remove it. The font and images are served by this website; no third-party font service is used.
After deployment, the hosting provider may process technical access logs, including IP addresses, times and requested URLs. The hosting provider and its log retention must be identified before publication.
10. Policy changes
This policy will be updated when new services or cloud features are added. The current date is shown above. Where additional disclosure or consent is required, it must be provided before the relevant processing.
